Gebroken Lijn – ter ere van Marga Minco

Public artwork made in honor of the writer Marga Minco commissioned by the municipality of Breda. Marga Minco was born in Ginneken which has now become part of the town Breda. She is best known for her work ‘Het Bittere Kruid’ (The Bitter Herb) which accounts the life of a Jewish family during the second world war form the perspective of a 14 year old girl.

The artwork consists of two red lines that cut into the pavement. In the center the lines do not meet but bend sharply upward 8 meters into the sky. The two adjacent lines form a gate which you step through into an intimate space. Here you can listen to Marga Minco’s voice reciting passages of her work.
